Joseph Richard was born in 1924 in Lawrence, MA but grew up in Exeter, NH where he graduated from Exeter High School in 1942. Upon completion of his required education, he enlisted in the US Naval Air Force and served from 1942-1945.

Upon separation from the service, he attended the University of New Hamsphire, earning his B.A. in 1950 and his M.A. in 1951from Laval University in Quebec, Canada. Once his studies were behind him, he entered the workforce with a job at Phillips Petroleum in Texas, but soon found his expertise lay in the financial world.

He has worked with or has been head of several banks, most recently the Indian Head National Bank Of New Hampshire and the Securities Corporation of Iowa until his retirement.

While Joe was emmersing himself in the world of finance, he was also broadening his horizons with art. He is well versed in sculpture but spends most of his time capturing landscapes, still life and portraits with the use of acrylics and oils. It seems that he has been a "student" for life, studying, currently, with Ralph Stone Jacobs of Whitefield, NH.

His works hang at the Franco-American Centre in Manchester, NH, The ARTS Gallery in Lisbon, NH, The Old Mill Studio in Whitefield, NH and the Littleton offices of Peabody and Smith, Realtors.

Over the years, he has exhibited in multi artist shows from the Lakes Region to North Conway and was the feature artist at shows in Franconia and Lincoln.
